My Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse review

Does Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse live up to expectations?

Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse is a popular film, but is it better than the original film?

WARNING: Spoilers ahead!

Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse starts off with Gwen mourning her friend, Peter Parker's death. Suddenly, a Medieval Vulture shows up in New York so she has to stop him from killing people. After a short fight, Vulture gets the upper hand and is about to kill Gwen until Spider-Man 2099 shows up to stop him. Vulture is still winning the fight so Spider-Woman shows up to help them. After winning the fight, Miguel recruits Gwen into his team.

At this time, Miles is dealing with the villain, The Spot. Spot wants to be Miles' arch nemesis, but Milesca disrespects him and calls him villain of the week. Spot is defeated and Miles goes to his school with his mum and dad. He is then called to fight Spot again so Jefferson Morales also has to help. They go to Alchemax, where Spot got his powers, but he is a again defeated and falls in a portal.

At this time, Jefferson Morales is getting promoted to captain so he throws a party. Miles is having problems with his parents until Gwen shows up. Miles is shocked and he hangs out with Gwen for a while. She then goes to follow Spot to another dimension where Miles follows. We are introduced to Spider-Man India who fights Spot with them until they show up at Alchemax. Spot activates a shield so they can't get through to Spot, yet Spider-Punk shows up and blasts through. Spot then fights the Spider-people and causes an explosion. Everyone survives, but Miles is given a glimpse of Spot killing every Spider-Man and killing his dad.

Miles and the spiders then try to stop people from dying outside. Miles saves Indian Spider-Man's friend, disrupting a cannon event. A group of Spider-People try to stop the universe from being destroyed and they take Miles to the Spider-Society. Spider-Man 2099 tells Miles that cannon events are things that are supposed to happen in Spider-Man's life. Miles then realizes a captain close to Spider-Man is meant to die, his father is supposed to die. Miguel then contains Miles but is then let out by Hobie Brown, Spider-Punk. Miles then escapes the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man 2099 then tells Miles about how he isn't supposed to exist and a different Miles Morales is supposed to be given the powers. Spider-Man then electrocutes Spider-Man 2099 and escapes into another universe. That universe has no Spider-Man though.

Miles is sent to an Earth without his dad. An Earth with his uncle. Spider-Man is then defeated by Prowler who is revealed to be this Earth's Miles Morales. Gwen is kicked out of the Spider-Society and creates a team of Spider-Punk, Spider-Man Noir, Spider Byte (Miles' first love interest in the comics and the portal mechanic for the Spider-Society), Peter B Parker, Spider-Ham, Peni Parker and Spider-Man India. The film then ends.

The plot for the film is really good, it sets up a second film and is really enjoyable.

The fights are really good, Miles fighting and running from the Spider-Society was perfect.

The animation for Spider-Verse was amazing. Spider-Punk had great animation and so did every other character.

The suits were all great, Spider-Man 2099 and Scarlet Spider had amazing suits, every other character's suits looked great.

The development from Miles taking his family for granted to trying his hardest to save them is great.

The villain, The Spot is amazing and he was funny in some bits, serious in others.

The humour and voice acting is spectacular, Miles had loads of emotions in just a sentence alone.

Finally, the pacing was a bit too fast.

In conclusion, its a 9/10
