X-Men 97 season 2 trailer breakdown

X-Men season 2 trailer theories and easter eggs.

Season 1 ended with the X-Men being lost throughout time, with 3 groups, one of which includes Jean and Cyclops in the far future with a young Nathan Summers.

The other includes the past, in ancient Egypt, at the start of the rule of Apocalypse, this group includes Beast, Magneto, Charles Xavier, Rogue and Nightcrawler.

The last group is in the present, the members of this team (aka the X-Force) are Archangel, Sunspot, Jubilee, Psylocke and Cable.

Additional members of the X-Men or mutants that we see are Archangel, Emma Frost, Psylocke, Magik, Polaris (the daughter of Magneto) and Colossus are seen. in a flashback of S1 episode 5 when Genosha was attacked, we see Colossus holding a woman with blond hair, which is most likely Magik. Additionally, a photo of Magik is shown upon a mural along with Gambit, which could mean that she is dead. Polaris is seen in person, next to a photo of the original X-Men roster, which was Cyclops, Iceman, Jean Grey, Beast, Polaris and Angel this is shown when Apocalypse states the X-Men needs to be taken out when they are vulnerable, so we may see Apocalypse fighting the early X-Men team, aka the X-Corp.

At the credits scenes of last season, Apocalypse was seen at Gambit's sight of death, and he put heavy emphasis upon the word "death". It is extremely likely that Gambit returns this season, as one of the 4 Horsemen of Apocalypse. The role he would fill is the Horseman of death. The other 3 slots for War, Famine and Pestilence remain a mystery, however, it is safe to look at the many casualties or injured characters from Genosha, like Banshee, who may be Pestilence. The slot for Famine may be Sebastian Shaw, as he was seen among the injured mutants in Genosha, and his power set somewhat represents famine, as he absorbs energy and transforms it into physical strength. Finally, Magik may show up as the horseman of war, as Limbo is constantly in a cycle of violence.

In the past, we also see a very significant pharaoh in a familiar purple and green color scheme. This pharaoh is probably Rama Tut, who is an incarnation of Nathaniel Richards. Nathan Richards assumes many titles and aliases in comics, the most famous one is Kang the Conqueror. So, Apocalypse and the Egypt team may go up against the pharaoh version of Kang, which starts the reign of Apocalypse. Rama Tut goes to the past to discover the "most powerful mutant ever born" aka En Sabah Nur. Rama Tut kills En Sabah Nur's entire clan, which makes him desire vengeance, eventually leading to the name of Apocalypse.

A side villain could be Danger, who is the physical manifestation of the Danger room from the X-Mansion, who was seen in the trailer. Another side villain may be the Brood, which was seen next to Morph as he shifted into Deadpool. Upon the many villains, there is also Exodus, who is an omega level mutant with telekinesis, teleportation and telepathy, he is seen fighting Nightcrawler.

At the end of the trailer, Archangel, Psylocke, Sunspot, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Wolverine, Morph, Jubilee, Forge, Storm and Cable are seen in the future, meaning the X-Force went into the future to rescue Jean and Scott, however they are seen preparing to fight, so they could be encountering Apocalypse to bring down his rule. Jubilee is also seen crying, possibly hinting at the death of someone close to her, the most logical theory would be Sunspot dying, however he has had little screen time and he was only introduced last season, so maybe somebody else dies or Sunspot fakes his death. Wolverine is also seen in his feral form, as his adamantium coating was removed, and that reduces him into a feral state in the comics.

Upon the multiple groups, X-Force, X-Corp, Egypt team and X-Men, the X-Factor will be introduced, including Polaris, Strong Guy, Multiple Man, Havok and Wolfsbane. This confirms 5 teams of mutants.

Overall, X-Men season 2 looks filled with contentif it keeps up season 1's writing, it could be one of the best Marvel shows.
