Top 10 saddest DC moments


DC has many sad moments but these are easily the top 10

10. Reverse Flash returns from the speed force to fight Bruce Wayne and finds a letter from his father, Thomas Wayne, in the Flashpoint universe. This was a sentimental letter from Bruce’s beloved late dad and Reverse Flash ripped it to shreds right in front of his eyes.

9. Hal Jordan’s death and redemption story happened in Final Night when The Sun Eater was consuming the Earth’s yellow sun. Earth’s heroes couldn’t do anything and were ineffective against it but Parallax, Hal Jordan, flew into the core of the sun chanting the Green Lantern's oath, whilst sacrificing himself to defeat the sun eater.

8. Injustice: 'Gods Among Us' was when Nightwing gets killed by Damian Wayne, throwing a baton at Nightwing’s face, he didn’t expect it in a the middle of a fight to he got hit by the baton and fell, snapping his neck on a rock.

7. Wonder Woman cries from tears of joy seeing Braniac’s ship after spending an eternity alone.

6. Blackest Night storyline: Nekron, leader of the black lantern corp kills heroes then resurrects them with a black lantern ring, turning them into zombies.

5. The death of Supergirl happened in Crisis on Infinite Earths. Many heroes tried to stop the evil Anti-Monitor, and Superman, Doctor Light and Supergirl tried to stop the Anti-Monitor at one point but Supergirl died in the progress, protecting her cousin, Clarke.

4. The death of swift superhero Barry Allen, aka The Flash, was a very sad moment. It happened in the aforementioned Crisis on Infinite Earths, when the Anti-Monitor tried to destroy universes to create a unified Earth. Anti-Monitor was about to use his cannon on the last five Earths, but Flash created a speed vortex to absorb the energy. It saved the multiverse but Barry Allen died in the process and didn’t return for another 23 years.

3. The death and return of Jason Todd, Red Hood. Jason was Robin for a while but Joker tortured him with a crowbar then blew him up. That was the day Red Hood was born. Jason survived the explosion but since Superboy was punching his way out of the phantom zone, it rewrote reality and Jason died. Years later, Superboy went back in the phantom zone and Jason came back to life. He dug himself from the grave and Talia Al Gul saw Jason and took him in to the Lazarus Pit and trained him. Jason thought about Joker. How Joker should have died years ago and confronted Batman about it.

2. Batman’s death in Final Crisis. Batman wounded Darksied, but was hit with the Omega Beams and was thought to be dead. It was later revealed he was sent back in time but it was a sad part since at that time when people thought him to be deceased.

1. In The Death of Superman, Doomsday was ripping apart Metropolis and Superman had to do something, he tried his hardest but died doing so, killing Doomsday at the same time. Lois Lane held Kal El’s dead body in her arms and above her was his cape stuck to a piece of metal. It's probably the most iconic comic book story of all-time.
