On Screen vs On Paper
There are many films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and a lot of the storylines are based on the comics but don't often follow the plots exactly. So below are a list of events that occurred during MCU films but didn't actually happen in the comic books:
Firstly, Iron Man didn’t defeat Thanos; Nebula did, when she stole the gauntlet from him while he was distracted, and then Adam Warlock defeated her.
At the end of Civil War, Captain America didn’t win, he lost; and he didn’t go on the run from like in the film where he sends his friend Iron Man a letter; he actually handed himself in when he realised he was wrong and was arrested.
In the MCU Spider-Man films, MJ’s name is Michelle Johns, played by Zendaya, but in the comics it is Mary Jane.
The original Avengers in the comics were Ant-Man, Wasp, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and then Captain America showed up a few comics later.
Black Panther’s original suit wasn’t fully Vibranium in the comics, it was Vibranium-laced fabric.
Loki was killed by Thanos in the MCU, strangled to death in front of his brother Thor, but he didn’t die in the comics and is currently alive.
Jane Foster didn’t fight Gorr the God Butcher in the comics, like she did in the latest Thor: Love and Thunder film; she fought Mangog and threw him into the sun. She did die of cancer however, which is how the latest Thor film ends, but she came back to life again.
All the Valkyries died in the comics, fighting against Malekith, but in the MCU one survived - 'Angry Girl', as Hulk calls her.
Ever since Thor: Ragnarok, Korg has faithfully been fighting beside the God of Thunder, but in the comics they were not friends because Korg was actually terrified of Thor.
