Fun facts about Korg
10. The character, created by writer Greg Pak and artist Carlo Pagulayan, was first introduced in 'The Incredible Hulk Volume 2 #93' during the 'Planet Hulk' storyline in 1962. He actually appeared before that in an earlier comic, 'Journey into Mystery, but was unnamed at that point.
9. His species are Kronan, their bodies are made of durable silicon-based substances that give them a rock-like appearance but also grant them super strength, stamina and durability. From the planet Ria in the Milky Way, Kronans are often referred to as the 'Stone Men', and are often compared to Thing from the Fantastic Four.
8. The Stone Men tried to invade Earth, first landing in Norway, but were defeated by Thor, and Korg subsequently became a prisoner of the Red King on the planet of Sakaar, forced into slavery and made to fight for his life in the gladiatorial arena for entertainment. Controlled by an obedience disk, Korg was made to kill his own brother Margus against his will, something that has haunted him forever after.
7. Korg and Hulk eventually became allies when the Hulk was exiled to Sakaar. Together they rebelled against the Red King after Silver Surfer arrived with the Power Cosmic to destroy the disks controlling them all, who was once a prisoner there himself.
6. They left Sakaar on a spaceship, but Miek triggered the destruction of the entire planet, so their 'Warbound' team were forced to surrender to S.H.I.E.L.D. on Earth. They managed to escape custody after Hulk caused a series of earthquakes in Manhattan. Korg was able to heal the damage done before he and his fellow members of Warbound retreated into the sewers to escape.
5. His best friends include the Hulk and Hiroim. His worst fear is Thor, which was a secret revealed during a battle with Trauma.
4. Korg is 8'1" tall, which is 2.46 metres, and weighs 2045 lbs or 146 stone!
3. A good friend to Hulk, Korg once attended Bruce Banner's funeral and even gave a speech. His friend Hiroim died too, during battle in New Mexico.
2. His physical strength is so great that it is 100% comparable to Olympian god, Hercules.
1. His relationship with Hiroim was actually a bit more than just friendship. The male pair were involved a romantic relationship and Korg dreamed that one day they would have children together.
Fun Fact: The actor who plays Korg in the MCU is Taika Waititi, and he is also the director of 'Thor: Ragnarok' and 'Thor: Love and Thunder'. He has also directed Avengers: End Game and the Disney+ 'What If...' series.
