Review of Obi-Wan Kenobi series episodes 1-3; plus a preview of 4-6

Review of Obi-Wan Kenobi series so far

The brand-new Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series has been outstanding so far and myself and everyone else will love to see what they do in the next three episodes. Spoiler alert, so don’t read ahead if you haven’t seen any of Kenobi yet.

Firstly, I loved the fact that they’re putting other Jedi in this other than just Kenobi to show that some survived the catastrophic Order 66. It shows that Obi-Wan isn’t the only one out there, paving the way for other stories and off-shoots.

Secondly, I love the arc they gave Reva. She went from a young, peaceful Padawan to a fearsome, hateful Inquisitor who dislikes Kenobi with a deep hatred, and will stop at nothing to capture him and take him to her leader, Vader, to get more respect and a higher authority.

Thirdly, the mention of Quinlan Vos also is sort of a reference to Assajj Ventress since Quinlan is her husband. Vos is described as still being alive as his name was written on the wall of the safe house on Mapuzo, rescued by Tala Durith.

Assajj Ventress would be good in live action, and since at the end of the Clone Wars she was a bounty hunter. Perhaps they can make it so Kenobi hire her to help find Leia for the second time or the Empire might hire her to defeat Kenobi.

Finally, the battle between Vader and Kenobi was just amazing. It shows how Kenobi, who hasn't used a light-saber in 10 years, has become weaker and rusty in battle situations. It also shows that what Vader has been through has made him stronger than ever. He is so powerful, he didn't just want to destroy his old master, the Sith Lord wanted to make Kenobi suffer and feel what it's like to burned alive.

The next few episodes will hopefully be just as good, if not even better.

Preview of Obi-Wan Kenobi next episodes:

Obi-Wan reminisced on his childhood when consoling Leia on their tricked transport ride through Mapuzo. Now, was this just a part of a dialogue between the two or could it be a pre-curser for bringing Obi-Wan's brother into the series in a later episode? In the books, Owen Lars was known as Obi-Wan's brother, but it may differ slightly on-screen.

The Jedi who pass safely through the safe house end up on the plant Jabiim, which could be a potential location for later on in the story, where we could see many of the Jedi that survived The Great Purge alive and well.

Talking about planets, Obi and Leia continually tell strangers they are from the planet Tawl, which is another new place that could be seen at some point.

Obi-Wan and Quinlan Vos have teamed up together before, where they were sent on a mission to recapture escaped prisoner, Ziro, who was a Hutt crime lord. They tracked him across the galaxy but when they found him, he had been murdered and the infamous bounty hunter, Cad Bane, was caught standing over his lifeless body. The was a lengthy battle of which Bane escaped alive. This story is too far in the past to be used in this series, but could we possibly see Cad Bane back in the frame? He has already been introduced in The Book of Bobba Fett, so it's a likely scenario.
