Superhero Origins: Blue Marvel

Who is Blue Marvel?

Blue Marvel was a scientist named Adam Bernard Brashear.

He worked with Conner Sims, his best friend, on an anti-matter experiment, which went wrong and gave both Adam and Conner powers. The pair met while serving in the Marine Corps.

Due to the unexpected explosion of the reactor, both were subjected to mutagenic radiation. Wile Conner Sims' body dissolved into energy, Adam Brashear became a stable anti-matter reactor with superhuman abilities.

Conner hated Adam for making a mistake and became a terrorist named Anti-Man, while Adam started using his powers for good and became the Blue Marvel.

Later on, he received a medal for stopping an alien invasion on earth. However, he threw the medal into the moon because of the racist reaction to him being discovered as an African-American. Adam had been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom from the President, but when his battle-damaged helmet revealed his skin colour, he was asked to retire the same day.

The Watcher met him there and told him about his strength, giving him the confidence to thwart the invasion. The Watcher would become a confidant to Brashear.

He defeated King Hyperion, a more powerful version of Hyperion, and defeated Anti-Man (Conner Sims) many times.

Then he joined the Ultimates, a team of powerful heroes, and is still in that team now.

He has a wife named Marlene Frazier, who was an Agent of SHIELD, and three children - Kevin, Max, Adrienne.

His eldest son Kevin would join him on adventures when he was old enough. Blue Marvel has also worked side by side with Blade, Iron Man, Black Panther and Mister Fantastic.

He was later killed by Loki.
