10 Amazing Kang facts
Ahead of the forthcoming An-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania film, due for release on February 17th, CBB have listed 10 fascinating facts on the film's antagonist, Kang the Conqueror.
10. Time traveller from the 30th century, Kang the Conqueror's real name is Nathaniel Richards and his goal is to rule over time and space. He was born in the alternate timeline of Earth-6311, aka 'Other-Earth'. He made his comic book debut for Marvel in 1963.
9. Kang's full-body armour enables him lift up to five tons and can project an electromagnetic force field around, which can shield him from the force of a nuclear strike. The armoured suit even has it's own food supply and waste disposal system! His best weapon, the neutrino-ray, is only the size of a handgun but extremely powerful and dangerous.
8. Kang's constant meddling with time and space inadvertently creates several variants of himself, who can sometimes hinder his world-conquering goals. Kang formed the Council of Kangs in order to rid the universe of his redundant variants.
7. He is an enemy of the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. His allies include his army of Growing Man androids, Princess Ravonna Renslayer, Anachronauts, Apocryohus (son of Sersi the Eternal), Deathhunt 9000, Raa, Sir Raston' Ssith, Wildrun.
6. His first love, Ravonna, sacrificed herself to save him. Ravonna was a princess from the 40th century who hated Kang for conquering her kingdom. Kang's commanders demanded her execution but Kang showed his human side when he couldn't bring himself to kill her because of his love for her. This led to rebellion from his commanders who teamed up with the Avengers. Just as a blast was able to strike Kang, Ravonna jumped in the way to save his life.
5. On his first ever trip through time, Kang visited ancient Egypt. He immediately used his advanced weaponry to take over and rule as their new Pharaoh Rama-Tut.
4. Kang became the Scarlet Centurion when he was inspired by Doctor Doom's armour. Kang's son Marcus took over the role as Scarlet Centurion in the future.
3. He created a human and a town on Earth. Kang created a variant of himself called Victor Timely to set up a home base on Earth to observe and secretly manipulate the timeline. Victor founded the town Timely in Wisconsin, America. Kang once completely destroyed Washington D.C. just to prove his strength during the Kang Dynasty.
2. In the future, his powers and wisdom grow to become the powerful timelord Immortus. He also has a younger version of himself called Iron Lad who assembled the team, The Young Avengers.
1. Kang once held the Reality Stone as a member of the Infinity Watch during Infinity Wars. The villainous Requiem reduced the universe's population in half by merging characters together in a series of Infinity Warps. It was Loki, of all people, who came to the rescue, as he was one of very few left unaffected, as he split some of the merged characters, such as Kang, who was merged with Ms. Marvel and called Kamala Kang.
Bonus Fact: Kang once merged with Doctor Doom and Annihilus to become Doom the Annihilating Conqueror.
Bonus Fact: Kang's name Nathaniel Richards has led to the ongoing rumour that he could be a descendant of Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards. As his origin is unknown still, the theory is strong especially as Kang and the Fantastic Four are always entwined in battles.
