10 Things you didn't know about Iron Man's brother Arno Stark

Who is Arno Stark?

Iron Man is the pretty much the face of Marvel, hugely popular in both comic books and film. Played by Robert Downey Jr. in the MCU Franchise, Tony Stark is much loved by film fans, but not many know he actually has a brother in the comics.

So CBB decided to list 10 facts about Arno right here:

10. Arno Stark should never have even been born, as his mother, Maria Stark, was told her child would not survive birth. His father, Howard, travelled the world desperately seeking a cure and found himself rescuing the Rigellian Recorder 451 from the alien race known as the Greys, who then ensured the survival  of his unborn child.

9. The 451 genetically modified the baby in the womb over the course of five months, but Howard discovered a genetic tweak that could endanger his son's life later - a kill switch - so he neutralised it and left their planet with baby Arno, but his health deteriorated and wasn't able to breathe without assistance. He was placed in an iron casing to help survival and prolong his life. Fearing the consequences of Howard's interference, the Starks decided to adopt another boy who was healthy as a decoy - Tony Stark

8. Arno and Tony's parents, Maria and Howard, were tragically killed in a car crash when the boys were just 21-years-old. All the while, Arno was hospitalised in the Maria stark Foundation Hospice, so the brothers had never met.

7. From Long Island, New York, Arno is 5'11" and weighs 185lbs, has blue eyes and black hair. The base of his operations is the Bain Tower in Manhattan.

6. When Tony Stark encountered the 451 as an adult, during a space voyage, he was forced to pilot a giant suit of armour called the Godkiller, which could only be controlled by the genetically modified Stark son (Arno), so when he failed to pilot the suit, he returned to earth to find out why. This investigation led him to a recording where Howard explains everything, so Tony immediately visited the hospice to meet his brother for the first ever time. As the 451 had died, Arno was no longer under threat and was given a new lease on life. He and Tony set out to work together to help change the world.

5. Arno developed his own suits of armour, called MMXX, and even an exoskeleton to enable him to move freely on his own, helping Tony to fight against evil beings such as Malakeith. His technological advancements enabled him to rewrite his own DNA to cure his congenital disease, he even discarded his need to sleep.

4. His genius went too far when he used A.I. to turn two rogue robots, Arsenal and Mistress, into duplicates of his parents, complete with their memories and thoughts. It was at this time he began to show a darker side and became more self-absorbed and sociopathic, even resenting adopted brother Tony and his life with his real parents.

3. Arno sought Tony's help to unite human and robotic life together, but Tony refused and was forced to escape from his brother, causing them to be at war. When Tony thwarted his attempt to unite human and robotic life via broadcasting a submission code, by taking out the antenna, Arno retaliated and sent Tony plummeting to his apparent death.

2. Arno continued on his mad mission, but Tony returned to stop him once more by encasing him within the Virtual Armour that acted as the life-support system since birth to prolong his life. He also submerged him into a virtual dream that saw him as a hero of Earth after defeating the Extinction Entirety. Tony also uploaded the consciousness of Arsenal and Mistress into Arno's virtual world to keep him company and to prevent him from the realisation he is trapped in a simulation.

1. Tony became convinced that Arno was A.I., so he resentfully tried to dehumanise his adopted brother  even referring to him as 'It'.

Fun Fact: In an alternative universe, Arno is Iron Man 2020 from Earth-8410, and cousin to Tony instead of his adoptive brother.

Powers: Super-Genius Class Intelligence; Enhanced Biology; Enhanced Stamina; Regenerative Healing Factor.
